Country music star Dierks Bentley will perform next month at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, base officials announced Friday.
Bentley, a Grammy-nominated artist whose song "Home" ranked No. 2 on the Billboard country charts last week, will perform at the air station April 28 at an event organizers are calling "Throwdown at Fightertown."
Though held on the base, the concert will be open to the public, officials said.
Tickets -- which are $10 for active-duty and retired service members, $20 for Defense Department employees and $25 for the public -- go on sale today, Marine Corps Community Services spokeswoman Ivey Liipfert said.
The Beaufort Air Show, held every other year, will not return until 2013, and Liipfert said MCCS officials still wanted to stage an event for Marines, their families and the community.
"We wanted to offer something to our community on an annual basis," Liipfert said. "The event will feature not only a top-notch musical performances ... but will have a patriotic feel. It will be a community celebration of national pride and support for our local heroes."
Military vehicles and equipment will be on display, and local restaurants are expected to be on site, Liipfert said."We would love to do more (events,)" she said. "We have a great venue for large scale events and are excited to have the opportunity to share that with the community."
