A man was charged Wednesday with breaking into a Bluffton cafe with a sledgehammer.

Buford Ellis Flanders III, 27, turned himself in on charges of second-degree burglary and petit larceny in connection with the Jan. 24 robbery of Walnut's Cafe on 70 Pennington Drive, according to a Bluffton Police Department news release.

The release said he stole about $140 after he used a sledgehammer to break the store's glass window. He was being held Wednesday in the Beaufort County Detention Center, according to the jail log.
