USCB building reopened after gas leak stopped

Published: February 21, 2012

A gas leak was reported this morning at the University of South Carolina Beaufort’s Hilton Head Gateway Campus, forcing the evacuation of its science and technology building.

Students were notified by a campuswide email shortly after 9 a.m., according to USCB spokeswoman Candace Brasseur. The gas in the building has since been turned off, and the source of the leak has been identified on the outside of the building.

Parts have been ordered to remedy the leak. Classes resumed in the building at 11:15 a.m.
