McTeer Bridge presents challenges for Port Royal bikers

Bicyclists are reporting problems using the new McTeer Bridge in Port Royal because it is not being cleaned often enough or well enough, and they are popping tires when they ride on it. The S.C. Department of Transportation has pledged to address the problem — and soon — and also will send its sweepers over the older McTeer span. Bikers say that thus far, the DOT's efforts have not been enough, and damage by debris has cost them hundreds of dollars.
