Dakolios was told in the aftermath of the Dolphins' 29-24 come-from-behind victory that Prep had held its rivals without a field goal for the entire second half.
"The whole half?" she asked as her eyes widened.
Yes, coach, the whole second half.
The Dolphins limited Christian Academy to just four free throws over the final 16 minutes to rally for a five-point win in SCISAA Region 3-AAA action.
"Layed an egg," Eagles coach Ken Conroy said. "You're not going to win many games shooting 6 for 17 from the foul line, not valuing the ball and not making shots from the field."
Christian Academy (10-11, 4-4) looked to be in control early on, as the Eagles jumped out to a 20-13 halftime advantage. Lauren Davis led the charge with an 11-point first-half performance.
But Prep senior Amber Erkan and a host of other Dolphins helped shut down Davis from there, as the senior forward was held to just three free throws in the fourth period.
Abby Miles' jumper midway through the third helped the Dolphins pull even at 21-all before Maggie Gasser gave Prep the lead for good moments later. Both baskets were part of a decisive 12-1 run.
After Davis trimmed the deficit to a point with three minutes to play, two key buckets by Prep's Halie Parker put the game away for good, sending the Dolphins to a season split with the Eagles.
"We've had a tough season," Dakolios said. "But these last few weeks, they've really worked their butts off. They've come out and really dug in on the defense end."
The win was especially sweet for Miles, who transferred from Christian Academy to Prep midway through her sophomore year. The junior finished with nine points, six rebounds and three blocks while Parker added eight points and 10 boards.
"That was our goal the whole season -- to play Christian Academy and to beat them," Miles said. "That's what we've been practicing for and that was our goal."

The Hilton Head Christian Academy boys basketball team used a strong run over the second and third periods to cruise past rival Hilton Head Prep, 52-36, Tuesday evening.
Leading by three early in the second period, the Eagles embarked on a 16-0 run spanning the remainder of the first half and the early portions of the third period to take a commanding 27-8 lead over the host Dolphins.
Taylor MacDonald and Brad Meccariello led the charge for Christian Academy (11-8, 2-4 SCISAA Region 3-AAA) with 21 and 11 points, respectively.
"Taylor is our go-to guy and Brad is our quarterback," Eagles coach Ken Conroy said. "Brad does a good job of penetrating to the lane and seeing Taylor and (Kyle) Weaver and Zach (Reynolds) inside."
The Eagles held Prep to just eight first-half points and carried a 31-12 advantage into the final minutes of the third period. The Dolphins pulled within 10 with just over six minutes to play thanks to a 10-1 run, but allowed the visiting Eagles to pull away in the closing moments for the 16-point win.
"I think us being aggressive and taking the ball to the basket was one of the big keys in the game," Conroy said. "And asserting our size down low really helped out."
