That letter shows the power of the media. Glenn Beck is the creator of the George Soros conspiracy theory. It's what his fans want to hear so Fox News understandably keeps it alive.
Here are the facts: The bank's board of three Republicans and two Democrats (none appointed by President Barack Obama) approved the loan in April 2009. Unfortunately, Petrobras never borrowed the money. Unfortunately, because Export-Import loans must be used to purchase products made by U.S. companies. This is from Forbes magazine. Skip the liberal media talk; Steve Forbes' magazine is to the right of Ron Paul.
The letter also claims the Embraer contract is part of the Soros conspiracy. The contract was awarded to Sierra-Nevada Corp., a U.S. systems integrator. Embraer, a Brazilian company, will make the plane in its Jacksonville, Fla., plant. Republican Gov. Rick Scott stated, "This is an important deal for Florida's economic future, and I'm particularly proud of Lt. Gov. (Jenifer) Carroll's leadership." Carroll is a Republican and a tea party favorite. Quick, someone call Beck. Soros has now infiltrated the tea party.
But all of us should be outraged. The planes are for the Afghanistan military. (There's an oxymoron). We'll borrow $355 million in support of our ongoing effort to impose American values on people whose lives are based on contrarian beliefs.
