Bluffton High School receiver Dimitri Lowry has multiple offers to play college football, but it appears one has emerged the favorite.

Lowry said he favors Johnson C. Smith University, a Division II school in Charlotte. The Bobcats senior said he has family in the Charlotte area and likes the school's proximity to the city's professional sports teams.

Golden Bulls coaches told Lowry he would fit well in their up-tempo style. The program competes in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

"They said we're going to do a lot of spread, like the Oregon offense -- fast-paced, no-huddle," Lowry said. "A lot of option and then throwing it deep."

Lowry said he also has offers from Lenori-Rhyne, Wingate and North Greenville. He has a visit scheduled with North Greenville on Jan. 28.

During the Bobcats' run to the Class 3-A state championship game, Lowry finished with more than 1,200 receiving yards and pulled in 23 touchdowns, including a school record four-touchdown performance during Bluffton's first-round victory over Georgetown.

He suffered a concussion during the Bobcats' loss to South Pointe in the title game, but said he has experienced no ill effects of the injury since being cleared to play basketball.

'CATS AMPED FOR REMATCH VS. LAKE MARION

The Bluffton boys basketball team isn't shying away about where its focus lies. The Bobcats have reeled off four consecutive victories by an average of 25.5 points, with the latest being a 40-point blowout over region rival Battery Creek.

But don't tell guard C.J. Frazier that the winning streak means anything.

"None of it really matters until we get back to Lake Marion," Frazier said. "That's it. That's all we're focused on."

The Gators were the last team to knock off Bluffton, notching a 10-point victory in the Swamp back on Jan. 10. The two teams will square off once again Friday, but first the Bobcats must get past Hilton Head High on Tuesday.

"They're on top," Frazier said of Lake Marion. "We've got to bust them down. Everybody else is going to take one until we get to them."

BATTERY CREEK'S SANCHEZ INJURED

Battery Creek wrestler Jimmy Sanchez will most likely miss the remainder of this season, assistant coach Jim Shuman said.

Sanchez dislocated his left elbow in a match against Cane Bay's Paul McKeever in the 120-pound weight class on Wednesday night.

Shuman was optimistic about Sanchez's return in the immediate moments following the injury. The veteran wrestler was smiling and joked with the audience that he was a "superstar" with all the focus on him.

"It's hard to gauge the severity just by looking at it," Shuman said Wednesday. "Sometimes it's a couple weeks, sometimes it's a month or two. It doesn't appear to be too awful."

Sanchez also plays soccer for the Dolphins, so the junior will likely miss some time at the beginning of this coming season. The soccer season gets under way for Battery Creek the week after next.

"He most likely won't be able to do soccer for at least a couple months," Shuman said.

FOCUS ON MORE THAN HOOPS

Most young athletes dream about receiving offers to play in NCAA Division I athletics.

Sabrina Drammis is not one of those.

The Hilton Head High basketball star has quite a few offers to play for top-level teams, but has instead focused her attention on some elite academic schools.

"She's really brillliant," Seahawks coach Dave Greenberg said.

Drammis -- who averages over 15 points per game for Hilton Head High -- is considering MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, Emory and Washington University in St. Louis. All are Division III basketball schools.

"The (Division 1) schools she had offers from were good schools, but they're not the caliber of these academically, and that's her priority," Greenberg said. "It's pretty impressive."
