Miranda Weslake's busy schedule leaves little room for much outside of sports and school, but that's the way the Beaufort Academy sophomore likes it.

Weslake, averaging more than 18 points per game for the Eagles basketball team, also plays for a travel soccer team out of Charleston. She practices twice a week with the soccer team and travels about once a month to play in tournaments.

She misses some basketball practices but makes the games. She hopes to continue playing basketball in addition to soccer.

"Sometimes the stress gets kind of hard to handle on top of school and everything and trying to keep my grades up," Weslake said. "But normally, I just sleep when I can and try to get tons of rest."

Despite the madness of her schedule, Weslake set aside a few minutes this week for The Beaufort Gazette and The Island Packet and our two-minute drill.

  • One word that describes you? Can I say two words? Outgoing and positive.

  • Best way to spend free time? I don't really get a lot of free time, because of basketball and soccer and school. If I do, I stay at home or hang out with my friends.

  • Last movie you saw? Mission Impossible 4

  • Favorite sports movie? Gracie

  • Favorite pregame meal? Normally it's strawberries with sugar all over them and iced coffee.

  • Favorite postgame meal? Chocolate milk is good. And normally some kind of fruit or whatever I'm in the mood for.

  • Favorite college sports team? Clemson. Just because my whole family goes for them. I just go with the flow.

  • Favorite athlete? Brandi Chastain

  • Celebrity you would want to have dinner with? Cam from Modern Family (Eric Stonestreet)

  • Last book you read? I think it was The Scarlet Letter.

  • Favorite school subject? Spanish

  • Facebook or Twitter? That's a tough one. Facebook.

  • XBox, Wii or PS3? Wii

  • And what game are you playing? FIFA

  • If money is not an issue, what band plays your birthday party? Maroon 5.

  • The last song to play on your iPod? "It Will Rain," by Bruno Mars

  • TV show you can watch over and over again? Glee

  • Best high school sports memory? In the 2010 semifinal for state soccer, when the game started, I took the ball and dribbled through the whole team and scored. Their coach was like, "Guys, she just dribbled 50 yards through all of you and scored. Come on. Step it up." It was really funny.

  • Teammate whose skill you envy? Probably Katherine Neal. She's just always positive and always keeps going hard and never really gives up. And even if she's having a bad game, she never gets down about it.

  • One thing you would change if you could? I don't want to stop playing basketball.
