WRESTLING

Bluffton 64, Berkeley 18: The Bobcats had little trouble against the Stags, staying undefeated in Region 7-AAA to set up a title showdown next week against Cane Bay. Bluffton (13-2 overall, 3-0 region) guaranteed itself a spot in the Class 3-A playoffs with the victory.

Nick Stead, Lloyd Williams, Mike Meyerink, Austin Farmer, Alex Waddell, Waner Valasquez, Harry Chirinos and Edgar Prada won with pins for the Bobcats. Levi Joly had a major decision.

The Bobcats host Cane Bay at 6 p.m. Wednesday with the region title on the line.

Middle School: Beaufort County championships -- 1. Robert Smalls, 2. Beaufort Middle, 3. Hilton Head Middle

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Beaufort Academy 65, Coastal Christian 30: Miranda Weslake scored 24 points and had eight steals, and Katherine Neal broke out of a shooting slump with four 3-pointers to help the Eagles win easily.

Neal finished with 19 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. Mackenzie Blake also had 13 rebounds and five assists, and Megan Kahn had 13 rebounds and three blocked shots.

Abby Stevens scored 15 points to lead Coastal Christian.

Beaufort Academy (6-7) plays at St. Andrew's tonight in a game that is critical to staying in the top four spots in the region standings, and thereby staying in the hunt for the SCISAA playoffs.

JV: Bluffton 43, Battery Creek 11

Middle School: McCracken 31, Beaufort 30

Middle School A: Hilton Head Prep 47, St. Francis 12

BOYS BASKETBALL

Coastal Christian 69, Beaufort Academy 47: Preston Suber had 11 points and seven rebounds, and Michael Bible added 10 points and six rebounds in the loss. Jordan Littleford scored eight points for the Eagles (6-8), who return to region play tonight at St. Andrew's. Beaufort Academy is still very much in the hunt for a playoff spot.

"If we win out, we can finish third probably," Eagles coach Chip Dinkins said.

JV: Summerville 44, Beaufort High 40
