Bluffton Palmetto State Bank robbed at gunpoint

Two men in masks robbed a Palmetto State Bank on Bluffton Road at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The robbers met the bank's manager as he arrived at work and held him at gunpoint, according to a news release from the Bluffton Police Department. The manager was able to escape and call the police. The suspects fled and ran from the bank toward Goethe Road.

Bluffton Police Sgt. Joe Babkiewicz said no one was hurt in the incident. The suspects were described as two black males wearing dark clothing.

The investigation is ongoing with assistance from the FBI, and no further information could be released as of Thursday evening, Babkiewicz said.

Bluffton Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call the department tip line at 843-706-4560.
