Get your appetites and phones ready for Restaurant Week on Hilton Head Island and in Bluffton

Published: January 19, 2012

Restaurant Week once again gives area foodies a chance to dine on the cheap Jan. 21 through Jan. 28 in the Hilton Head Island and Bluffton area. Now, they'll also be able to proclaim their love for their favorite spot.

Aside from the prix fixe offerings at about 60 places, Restaurant Week has become a contest of sorts. Visitors can log on to the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce's website to vote on which restaurant was the best. At the end of the week, one lucky voter will be drawn to receive a free meal for two at the restaurant he or she chose.

The chamber, which organizes the event, will make it easier to broadcast favorites, too. They've teamed up with Foodspotting, a website that serves as a place to upload photos and short commentary on dishes. Foodspotting, which also has an app downloadable to a smartphone, allows people in certain places to look up restaurants to find out what's good there.

The setup of the week remains relatively the same. Restaurants serve up a multi-course menu for a set price. Local favorites Red Fish, Robert Irvine's eat!, The Smokehouse, Roastfish and Cornbread, Michael Anthony's and Skull Creek Boathouse, among others, participate.

For full menus, go to the Restaurant Week website.
