A man was dragged by a car when his arm was caught in the window while trying to buy a cellphone from the driver, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Thomas Bach, 20, of Hilton Head Island was charged Saturday with strong-arm robbery and is in the county detention center, according to the jail log.

Bach approached a man at a Hilton Head gas station and offered to sell him an iPhone for $200, an incident report said. After the man got the money from an ATM, he went to the car Bach was in. Bach allegedly grabbed the money and trapped the victim's arm by rolling up the window. He dragged him for more than 20 feet as he drove away, according to the report.

Deputies stopped Bach nearby, using the victim's description of the vehicle; a search yielded $180 that appeared to have been thrown under a seat, according to the report.
