GIRLS BASKETBALL
Thomas Heyward 83, Cathedral Academy 20: The undefeated Rebels shared the wealth in an easy region win, as six players scored in double figures, led by Brielle Jungblut's 12 points and nine steals.
Jamie Malphrus added 11 points, Caitlyn Cooler had 10 points and six assists, and Ashlie Layman had 10 points for Thomas Heyward (13-0 overall, 2-0 region), which shot 62 percent from the field.
Chandler Cook and Andrea Daring came off the bench to score 12 and 10 points, respectively. Kayla Canavan had six assists and Taylor Ernestine had seven steals for the Rebels, who limited Cathedral to only 16 shots from the field.
Thomas Heyward plays at Bible Baptist on Tuesday.
Ashley Ridge 58, Beaufort High 53: The hosts came out strong at halftime, outscoring the Eagles 33-19, to claim the Region 8-AAAA win.
Jordan Fields scored a team-high 16 points for Beaufort High. Fields also had six rebounds.
Ebony Watson chipped in 11 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks for the Eagles. Emani Gray also scored 11.
Beaufort High (5-7, 0-2) next hosts Bluffton today.
Whale Branch 69, Bethune-Bowman 25: Five players scored in double figures for the Warriors, led by Deborah Fields' 17 points. She also had 10 rebounds and five steals.
Shaniqua Johnson finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds, and Kemoni Jenkins had 12 points and eight assists. Kenyada Moultrie added 11 points, and S'nitra Mack notched 10 points seven rebounds and five steals for Whale Branch (7-4 overall, 4-1 Region 5-A), which plays at Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Tuesday.
Northwood Academy 76, Hilton Head Prep 11: Point guard Amber Campbell scored 26 points to lead Northwood Academy past Prep.
Maggie Gasser was Prep's top scorer with four points. The Dolphins (2-12 overall, 0-4 region) host Memorial Day on Tuesday.
Pinewood Prep 65, Hilton Head Christian 29: Lauren Davis scored 12 points and Andy Anderson had nine points, but the Eagles fell to powerful Pinewood Prep. Hilton Head Christian (5-9 overall, 2-2 region) travels to Savannah on Tuesday to face St. Andrew's.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Beaufort High 51, Ashley Ridge 42: Jordan Broussard scored 16 points and Joey Chaplin added 11 points as the Eagles improved to 2-0 in Region 8-AAAA.
Tyrone Holmes chipped in nine points and Henry Jenkins had eight for Beaufort High (10-4), which plays Bluffton tonight at Lady's Island Middle School.
Fred Weeks had 17 points to lead Ashley Ridge.
Bethune-Bowman 54, Whale Branch 49: Devontay Turkvant had 20 points to lead Bethune-Bowman past the Warriors.
Eric Frazier topped Whale Branch with 16 points. Dee Delaney added 11 points, 12 rebounds, six steals and three assists for the Warriors (9-5 overall, 4-2 Region 5-A), who play at Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Tuesday.
Hardeeville 73, Branchville 22: Three players scored in double figures for the Hurricanes, who took control early in the game and led 45-18 at halftime.
Dyquan Johnson paced Hardeeville with 21 points. Garretson Seeden added 17 points, 11 rebounds and three steals, and Aljaray Manuel notched 16 points and 11 boards.
Hardeeville (5-9) travels to Whale Branch next Friday.
Northwood Academy 52, Hilton Head Prep 43: The Dolphins stumbled at home despite a double-double performance from sophomore Shaun Topper.
Topper finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Prep's Jon Sheehan added nine points, and LJ Orage provided key defensive minutes, head coach Bob Sulek said.
Hilton Head Prep (4-12) returns to action today, facing off against Beaufort Academy at the Colonial Center in Columbia.
Pinewood Prep 85, Hilton Head Christian Academy 60: Taylor MacDonald had 21 points, and Brad Meccariello and C.J. Evanofski had 11 apiece, but the Eagles suffered their second loss of the season to perennial SCISAA power Pinewood Prep
The Dolphins (8-7 overall, 2-2 region) play at St. Andrew's on Tuesday.
Thomas Heyward Academy 82, Cathedral Academy 28: JD Tuten had 18 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals to help the host Rebels crush the visitors from Charleston. Nick Keiffer added 14 points, six rebounds and two steals for Thomas Heyward (5-6), which plays again Tuesday at Bible Baptist in Savannah.
