Whale Branch 48, Ridgeland 47: Ridgeland's furious fourth-quarter rally came up inches short Tuesday night at Whale Branch, as Terrance Frazier's shot at the buzzer was ruled a 2-pointer instead of a triple, sending Whale Branch to a 48-47 win over the Jaguars in a Region 5-A matchup.

Andre Watson grabbed 15 points and three assists for Whale Branch (7-4) while Leroy Perry notched 14 points, 10 rebounds and six steals.

Ridgeland used a 20-8 run in the final frame to bring the game down to the final shot before coming up a point shy of forcing overtime.

Edisto 64, Beaufort High 48: The Eagles were kept in check by host Edisto. Beaufort High, which fell to 6-4, was led by Tyrone Holmes' 15-point performance. Edisto improved to 4-3 while avenging a 2-point loss to the Eagles back in early December.

Wade Hampton 62, Battery Creek 49: Senior guards Justice Oliver and Leroy Jennette collected 15 and 12 points, respectively, but it wasn't enough for Battery Creek (3-10), which fell by 13 at Wade Hampton.

The Dolphins turn around to host Berkeley tonight in a Region 7-AAA contest.

Bethune-Bowman 69, Hardeeville 49: Richard Garvin led the Hurricanes with 13 points while Aljaray Manuel contributed 12 more and four assists in the loss. Each player grabbed eight rebounds for Hardeeville.

Hilton Head Prep 56, HSE Dingos 30: Prep won its second consecutive game over a team from Australia, this time by knocking off the Dingos in impressive fashion.

Sophomore guard Shuan Topper led Prep (4-9) with 10 points and 11 rebounds while Charlie Wilmot added eight points, six assists and four steals. Prep plays Porter-Gaud on Friday.

First Baptist 69, Beaufort Academy 43: Beaufort Academy jumped out to an early 14-7 lead, but First Baptist ended the first quarter on top by a point before rolling from there.

Beaufort Academy (3-5) was led by junior guard Preston Suber, who had 15 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Michael Bible recorded a double-double, notching 15 points and 13 boards.

Beaufort Academy 51, First Baptist 26: Miranda Weslake's triple-double powered Beaufort Academy to an easy win at First Baptist, as the sophomore tallied 31 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals in the decisive victory. Thirteen of those points came in the second quarter, as Beaufort Academy (5-3) turned a 6-2 lead after the opening frame into a 26-8 halftime advantage.

Katherine Neal led the Eagles in rebounds (12) and assists (six) while adding seven points of her own.

Beaufort Academy plays at Bible Baptist on Friday.

Ridgeland 41, Whale Branch 39: Senior April Jenkins' 18-point performance propelled visiting Ridgeland (6-3) to a two-point victory at Whale Branch.

S'nitra Mack registered 12 points in the loss while Kemoni Jenkins chipped in another 10 for the Warriors (5-4).

Wade Hampton 40, Battery Creek 32: Battery Creek held a 10-point lead at halftime on the road but was unable sustain it, as Wade Hampton outscored the Dolphins by 18 following intermission.

Daisja Cannon led Battery Creek (1-8) with 10 points while Jasmine Wallace added seven more.

HSE Dingos 49, Hilton Head Prep 22: Maggie Gasser collected six points while Brooke Churchich added another five, but those were among the few highlights for Prep (2-9), which fell by 27 to the visitors from Australia.

Mikyla Marsh led all scorers with 20 points for the Dingos while Georgia Chiovaroli contributed eight.
