BOYS BASKETBALL

Spruce Creek (Fla.) 50, Whale Branch 41: Spruce Creek, hailing from Port Orange, Fla., broke open a close game by going on a 13-point run in the second half to send Whale Branch to a loss on the final day of West Ashley's holiday tournament.

Leroy Perry had 16 points, five rebounds and three steals to lead the Warriors (6-4). Michael Middleton added six points, four blocked shots and three steals, and his brother Simeon Middleton had six points, six rebounds and two assists.

Whale Branch's next game will be a home contest Jan. 3 against Ridgeland.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bluffton 68, Bradford (Fla.) 26: Jennifer Giles and Tibra Wheeler had 19 points apiece to propel the Bobcats at the Madison County (Fla.) Holiday Tournament.

Wheeler had eight assists, seven rebounds and seven steals, and Giles had six assists. Shakeria Kitty grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for Bluffton, which led 43-17 at halftime.

The Bobcats (4-1) resume tournament play today against Jacksonville, Fla.-based University Christian.
