Bluffton 95, Beaufort Academy 20: The Bobcats rolled at home against their SCISAA foe. Bryson Bell led Bluffton with 14 points. Jeremy Scott and C.J. Frazier each added 10. And B.J. Hill and Marquis Webber each scored nine points for the Bobcats.

Preston Suber led the Eagles with six points.

"Just looking to sharpen some things up offensively, which I thought we did a pretty good job of," Bluffton coach Brett Macy said. "We talked about playing championship basketball and being solid. I thought it was a step in the right direction."

Bluffton's Dimitri Lowry played his first game since suffering a concussion during the Class 3-A football championship. Macy said Lowry played about 12 minutes and scored two points.

Bluffton (3-1) plays host to Ridgeland at home Saturday at 8 p.m.

Hilton Head High 51, Hardeeville 38: Michael Julian scored 21 points and had 11 rebounds to power the Seahawks to victory.

Hilton Head High did a lot of its damage at the free throw line, where it was 23 of 29 for the game -- and 16 of 18 in the fourth quarter.

Robbie Iulo added nine points in the win.

Garretson Seeden had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead Hardeeville in the defeat. Aljaray Manuel added six points and five rebounds, and Nazair Wilson had five points for the Hurricanes (1-5), who are off until starting play in Bluffton's Bobcat Classic on Dec. 28.

Wando 54, Beaufort High 26: The Eagles fell to 4-2 on the season with the loss on the road. Jordan Broussard led Beaufort High with 11 points. Henry Jenkins added four for the Eagles, who play Tuesday in the Modie Risher Classic.

  • Middle School: Hilton Head 45, Whale Branch 28


    Hilton Head High 53, Hardeeville 16: The Seahawks prepped for their holiday tournament by winning big on the road.

    Sabrina Drammis led Hilton Head High with 20 points, six steals and four assists. Freshman Americal Jenkins scored 12 and added 12 rebounds for the Seahawks. Lauryn Bush had six points and recorded five steals. Brennan O'Gorman scored five and added five steals. Shy Flemming scored four points and added nine rebounds to help lead Hilton Head High (5-1).

    The Seahawks play in the first round of their own Hilton Oceanfront Resort Holiday Classic at 7 p.m. Saturday against Creek Bridge.

    Wando 77, Beaufort High 48: Four Eagles scored in double figures, but it wasn't enough to hang with Wando and Tinsley Hallman, who finished with a game-high 32 points.

    Ebony Watson led Beaufort High with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Emani Gray added 11 points, and Paris Smith and Veneshia Holmes each scored 10. Holmes also had seven assists and three steals.

    The Eagles (2-3) tip off the Hilton Oceanfront Resort Holiday Classic at Hilton Head High on Saturday, facing Lexington at 10 a.m. in a first-round matchup.

  • Middle School: Hilton Head 46, Whale Branch 20


    Tri-match at Stall: Whale Branch won a pair of duals Thursday, defeating Cross 53-13 and sneaking past host Stall, 42-36.

    Against Cross, Mark Rivers (152) and Daniel Makowski (170) each won by pin. Devontae Washington (126) and Michael Smalls (132) each won decisions.

    Against Stall, Javon Gardner (120), Washington, Makowski and Max Ford (285) won by pin. And Smalls won another decision.

    "The kids are learning how to win," Whale Branch coach Chad Cox said. "I was pleased with the effort tonight."

    Cox said the turning point against Stall was Nic Nederman winning a decision at 195 after falling behind early.

    Whale Branch improved to 6-4 and expects to be ranked in the top 10 when the new rankings are released Monday.
