WRESTLING

Bluffton 60, Colleton County 6: The Bluffton High School wrestlers opened the home portion of their schedule with an easy 60-6 win over Colleton County on Monday.

The Bobcats prevailed in 11 of 12 weight classes, losing only at 182 pounds.

Winning by pin for Bluffton were Lloyd Williams (113), Levi Joly (120), Austin Farmer (132), Wanner Valasquez (138) and Mike Meyerink (160).

Other winners for Bluffton included Johnny Kautter, who earned a 12-10 overtime victory at 145; and Harry Chirinos, who cruised to a 9-3 win at 152.

"It was the home opener and first dual meet of the year, so it was a chance to shake off the rust and go out there and perform as a team," Bluffton coach John Hollman said. "It was good to get the team out there again."

The Bobcats, who competed over the weekend at Effingham County (Ga.), return to the mat today at South Effingham (Ga.).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bluffton 45, Hardeeville 29: Jennifer Giles had 14 points, Monique Bryant scored nine and the Bobcats won for the second time in three games to start the season.

Alex Bailey chipped in three points, six rebounds, five steals and seven assists for Bluffton.

The Bobcats (2-1) host Ridgeland on Saturday.

JV: Beaufort High 36, Battery Creek 6

BOYS BASKETBALL

Bluffton 76, Hardeeville 36: Bryson Bell poured in 23 points to spark Bluffton, which gained control early and led 36-15 at halftime.

Harlan Kendrick and C.J. Frazier added 10 points each for the Bobcats.

Bluffton (2-1) hosts Beaufort Academy on Thursday.
