The Technical College of the Lowcountry recently inducted local members into its Alpha Lambda Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, which emphasizes scholarship, leadership and service.
To be considered for full membership, a student must be enrolled in an associate degree program, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 with at least 12 semester hours credit in degree level courses, be of good moral character, and possess recognized qualities of citizenship.
The students are: Stephanie Brumley, Lisa Cramer and Nicole Viskovich of Bluffton; Sarah Asbrey of Okatie; Kendra Barnes of Hardeeville; and Jovonn Sumter of Hilton Head Island.
Courtney Boryk received her master's degree in Academic Advising and Collegiate Counseling from Kansas State University on Saturday.
Courtney, daughter of Julie Jilly of Hilton Head Island and Kevin Hood of Bluffton, is a graduate of Hilton Head Island High School and the College of Charleston.
