A pedestrian killed Friday after being struck by several cars on U.S. 17 has been identified.

The fingerprints of Aaron Lemont Morris, 19, of Hampton County were used by authorities to identify him as the pedestrian found dead in the southbound lane of U.S. 17 near Bull Corner Road, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.

Beaufort County Coroner Ed Allen said Morris, who was wearing black clothing and black shoes, appeared to have been struck by as many as five vehicles.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

After the first car struck him, the driver pulled over to call 911, then at least two more vehicles struck the victim, Allen said.

The body has been sent to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for an autopsy.

The accident remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
