Mr. and Mrs. Bill Whittle of Luray, Va., announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Anne Whittle to Arthur Paul “J.R.” Stratton III of Arlington, Va., The groom-elect is the son of Paul Stratton Jr. of Kissimmee, Fla., and Lynn Stratton of Beaufort, S.C. He is the grandson of June Stevenson, also of Beaufort. The bride-elect is a graduate of the College of William and Mary. She is a student at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., and is the Minister of Music at Del Rey United Methodist Church in Alexandria, Va. The groom-elect is a graduate of Old Dominion University. He is employed by UGL-Unicco in Washington, D.C., and is Youth Director at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Springfield, Va. A Jan. 14, 2012 wedding is planned.
