Laurence Manning 72, Hilton Head Christian 56: Brad Meccariello scored 20 points and Conner Millen added 13, but the Eagles were handed their first loss of the season in the second round of the Colleton Prep Shoney's Invitational.
Taylor MacDonald had nine points, and Kyle Weaver, Jamario Williams and Clay Oliver scored four each for Hilton Head Christian (2-1), which faces either Thomas Heyward Academy or Dorchester Academy at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Hardeeville 85, Abundant Life 27: Rico Bolden scored 20 points and had four assists to lead the Hurricanes to victory in their season opener. Nazair Wilson added 13 points and five assists, Richard Gavin had 10 points and nine rebounds, and DiQuan Johnson had 12 points for Hardeeville (1-0), which plays at Hilton Head High on Tuesday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Hilton Head Christian 54, Palmetto Christian 50: The Eagles overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to earn their first victory in the Colleton Prep tournament.
Christian Academy (1-3) was led by Lauren Davis's 24 points. Francesca Guidibono added 13 points for the Eagles, and Addison Bensch finished with seven.
The Eagles play the winner of Hilton Head Prep-Holly Hill on Saturday at noon.
WRESTLING
Whale Branch wins two: The Warriors opened their season with two easy wins, topping Military Magnet 60-22 and Academic Magnet 55-21. Thomas Mooney, Chris Kahn, Levar Washington, Demetrius Judge, Daniel Makowski, Trey Nelson, Nick Nederman, Jarrod Sanders and Max Ford each went 2-0 on the night.
Whale Branch (2-0) hosts a quad meet Saturday against Stratford, Colleton County and Edisto.
Battery Creek wins two: The Dolphins rolled to an 84-0 win over Baptist Hill and a 64-22 win over Stall on Wednesday at Battery Creek. Heavyweight David Ratliff and 191-pounder Javon Livingston each had two pins for the Dolphins (5-2), who wrestle Saturday at the Atomsmasher Duals in Savannah.
