Violence against women can come in many forms: physical, mental, verbal, financial, bullying, stalking, isolation, adultery, public humiliation and control. These are just a few examples.
For a woman to qualify for assistance to end an abusive marriage, legal aid groups can require that she have a minor child or grounds for criminal domestic abuse.
Unfortunately, abused women aren't usually capable of representing themselves in Family Court. They need help; they need closure. It saddens me to see criminals appointed public defenders when they can't afford an attorney, while women have to remain abused.
I appreciate the full page of names, and I appreciate domestic abuse being addressed, but I'd also like to see a solution for legal representation. Thank you for the effort, but until women receive justice we will continue to be victims.
