BAMBERG --Being down most of the game, Bamberg-Ehrhardt needed to make something happen if it hoped to extend its season at least one more game.

With under two minutes left to play, Sumner Cooler's 33-yard touchdown pass to Landon Sandifer would be just enough to help the Red Raiders pick up a 19-14 win over Ridgeland and advance to the Class 1-A Division I Lower State final.

"That's what we preach each and every day," B-E head coach Butch Crosby said. "We preach each and every day about hanging in there, and that's what we work hard for. That's what we live for. That's why we come out here in the summer and work as hard as we do. We push our kids to that limit because late in the season is when it pays off."

Xavier Capers scored from 8 yards out, putting Ridgeland up 7-0 with 9:09 left in the first quarter.

Tyron Mikell had a 2-yard touchdown run out to give the Jaguars a 14-7 in the third quarter.

Demetrius Odom's 9-yard touchdown run with 6:19 to play pulled the Red Raiders to within a point, 14-13.
