Thomas Heyward Academy 49, St. Andrew's 14

Ryan Day had yet another big night as Thomas Heyward Academy wrapped up a 9-1 regular season, and the Rebels came home Friday from Savannah with a 49-14 win over St. Andrew's.

Day scored four touchdowns -- two rushing and two receiving -- as the Rebels locked up a first-round home playoff game. Coach Nic Shuford's squad will face Florence Christian on Friday.

Day finished with 200 rushing yards on 15 carries -- an average of 13.3 yards per carry -- and he also had four receptions for 48 yards.

Quarterback JD Tuten had 54 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also was 7-for-12 passing for 84 yards, with the two scoring strikes to Day.

Zack Newton added 71 rushing yards and a touchdown for Thomas Heyward (9-1 overall, 4-1 SCISAA Region 2-AA).

Tuten led the defense with seven tackles. Brodie Etheridge added five tackles and a sack, and Nick Ashcraft also had a sack for the Rebels, who trailed 7-6 after one quarter.

Bamberg-Ehrhardt 49, Whale Branch 18

Josh Fields had a pair of touchdown catches for the host Warriors, but it wasn't enough to stop Region 5-A champion Bamberg-Ehrhardt.

Stedmon James returned to action from a knee injury to throw two touchdown passes, one to Dee Delaney and the other to Fields.

Andre Watson had the other touchdown pass to Fields, a 27-yarder.

Whale Branch (7-3 overall, 4-3 region) finishes fourth in Region 5. The playoff pairings will be announced on Sunday. Whale Branch athletics director Carlos Cave projects the Warriors will be a No. 3 seed in the Lower State for the Class 1-A Division II playoffs.

Beaufort Academy 50, Faith Christian 18

One week after Jack Griffith went over the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season, teammate Billy Dailey joined him.

Dailey piled up 204 rushing yards on a mere nine carries, scoring three times as the Eagles rolled to victory in Summerville -- their second road win of the year. Beaufort Academy (3-8 overall, 2-4 SCISAA 8-man Region 2) led by eight points after one quarter, 12 at halftime and 18 after three quarters.

Griffith had one touchdown receiving and one rushing, and quarterback Gibson Achurch was 5-for-8 passing for 82 yards and two scores, including a 50-yard catch and run by John Sturgis.

Griffith led the defense with 15 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble. Dailey pitched in with eight tackls and a fumble recovery, and Hunter Bradshaw added five tackles and a forced fumble.
