Missing St. Helena's woman found safe

Published: October 22, 2011

A 93-year-old St. Helena Island woman who disappeared from a home on Seaside Road on Friday was found safe and uninjured early Saturday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.

Authorities said Emily Truell wandered away Friday afternoon. She suffers from Alzheimer's disease and needed medical attention, the Sheriff's Office said in its initial news release. Authorities used thermal-imaging cameras to aid in their search.

No details about where or when Truell was found were provided in the Saturday news release, which was sent at about 1 a.m.

Efforts to reach a Sheriff' Office spokesperson Saturday were unsuccessful.
