For a kind ride

Imagine getting a flat tire at the base of the J.E. McTeer Bridge, in the construction zone, on a Monday morning during rush hour traffic with threatening storm clouds hovering above you.

This was the scenario for my son and me. Assessing our dire situation, we packed up for a walk across the bridge into Port Royal. As soon as we set foot on the bridge a gentleman stopped to pick us up. This gentleman did not arrive on a white horse, but he was driving a white truck.

Once our rescuer delivered us to our destination, his chivalrous deed was noted to my 8-year-old son as the type of individual I would like him to grow up to become: a person who takes the time to help others in a time of need.

To the gentleman in the white truck, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for extending kindness to us in our time of need. Your actions are admirable.
