Driver shot in head on Hardeeville highway

A Jasper County man was fatally shot while driving Wednesday on U.S. 321 in Hardeeville, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.

Kelvin Marquis Wiggins, 26, of Hardeeville died of a gunshot wound to the head at about 5:47 p.m., said Jasper County Deputy Coroner Jeremiah Vaigneur.

Sheriff Greg Jenkins said the other passengers in the vehicle heard what sounded like a single gunshot before Wiggins slumped over and the car began to swerve.

The passengers were able to gain control of the vehicle.

There is no motive or suspects at this time, and the incident is under investigation, Jenkins said.
