EVENTS

  • There will be an admission fair for 18 boarding schools from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa.

  • The University of South Carolina Beaufort Career Fair will be held from noon-4 p.m. Oct. 12 in Room 237 of the library at the Hilton Head Gateway campus. Details: 843-208-8030

  • BATTERY CREEK HIGH SCHOOL

    ACHIEVEMENTS

  • The school recently held student government officer elections. Senior class officers are: President Justice Oliver, Vice President Quantaya Brown, Secretary Mikalia Fry and Treasurer Robert Brown. Junior class officers are: President Grayson Morgan, Vice President Ayanna Cobban, Secretary Nathaniel Cooper and Treasurer Tina Kwok. Sophomore class officers are: President Alexis Myers, Vice President Aujena Mungin, Secretary Fatima Watson and Treasurer Vanessa Stanley. Freshman class officers are: President Zac Scott, Vice President Cali Caulder, Secretary Brieanna Helle and Treasurer Olivia Nolan. The group will meet with student body President Albert Williams, Vice President Alexis Miller, Secretary Josh Williams and Treasurer Michael Evans to begin planning homecoming activities.

  • EVENTS

  • The Battery Creek Alumni Night will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Football tickets can be purchased two for the price of one in advance. The game will be against Berkeley High School.

  • Homecoming week is the week of Oct. 17.

  • The School Improvement Council meets Oct. 13 in the media center. Details: bch.beaufort.k12.sc.us

  • HELPING HANDS

  • The SADD Club of Battery Creek High School is collecting shoeboxes of all sizes for Operation Christmas Child. Shoeboxes can be dropped off in the front office with Mrs. Grooms.

  • OTHER

  • Students who are 18 should see Mrs. Grooms in the front office to register to vote.

  • The Band Boosters are currently holding a membership drive. The membership forms are available online and in the front office of the school. The membership fee is $5.

  • BEAUFORT ACADEMY

    EVENTS

  • School picture orders are due today.

  • The honor council will hold its first meeting today in the Learning Center.

  • Tuesday is makeup day for school pictures.

  • Parents are invited to see the fifth grade science Animal Creatures Galore models at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.

  • Parent-teacher conferences begin in the afternoon Thursday.

  • Parent-teacher conferences are from 4-8 p.m. Oct. 20 or 8 a.m.-noon Oct. 21. Contact your child's teacher to schedule a conference. Activities will be available for children as parents participate in the Oct. 20 conferences.

  • HELPING HANDS

  • There will be an informational meeting about the seventh-grade Duke University Talent Identification Program at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Beaufort Middle School cafeteria. Letters went home to parents of all seventh-graders with a qualifying test score. Details: 843-322-5700

  • The next All Pro Dad breakfast is from 7-8:15 a.m. Friday at the school cafeteria. This month's topic is "Being Humble." The gathering is open to all dads and kids.
