Sure, everyone's had spaghetti and ravioli. But what about Osso Bucco or Sfogliatelle?
That's where the Italian Heritage Festival can help out.
The Italian American Club of Hilton Head Island's second annual event Saturday at Shelter Cove Community Park brings together some of the finest Italian cuisine on the island. The festival features an expanded offering of cuisine this year with 16 restaurants serving up Italian dishes and desserts, including, for those curious, Osso Bucco with Risotto (braised veal shanks) or Sfogliatelle (cream-filled pastry).
Local chefs, including Orchid Paulmeier of One Hot Mama's and "Food Network Star" will show the crowd how to make pasta, lemoncello, mozzarella and ricotta cheese and other favorites.
The festival is more than just food, of course. Expect music, cars, wine and beers, pasta eating and grape stomping contests, stickball ... and plenty of folks to help you figure out some of those trickier-sounding Italian dishes.
