Katharine Westberg and Shawn Fitzpatrick, both of Bluffton, announce their engagement.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Susan Westberg of Litchfield, Conn., and Robert Westberg of Torrington, Conn. She is a 2004 graduate of St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vt., where she earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She is employed as a copy editor at The Island Packet.

The groom-elect is the son of Robert and Cherie Fitzpatrick of Pittsburgh. He is a 2011 graduate of Columbia Southern University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in fire science. He is employed as a firefighter with the Bluffton Township Fire District and is a staff sergeant in the Air National Guard. He is the grandson of Jack and Rosemarie Frisch of Pittsburgh.
