Gazette Thank You Letters for Sept. 12

For medical help

Thank you to the couple who came to my assistance when my husband fell at the Shrimp Shack on Aug. 6.

She was a nurse who realized Fred should not be moved and called EMS. She stayed by my husband's side and kept him calm till help arrived. She offered to drive me and my car to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, following the ambulance.

When Jesus comes and separates the sheep from the goats, she will be among the sheep. "For as much as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it unto me." I wish I knew your names so I could thank you in person.

For compassion at a time of loss

My family and I wish to extend our deepest gratitude to all who responded to our distress on the morning of May 14. My granddaughter's wedding was scheduled for that afternoon at First Presbyterian Church in Beaufort. Three close family members had made the trip with me and we stayed at the Hampton Inn the Friday night before the wedding.

Sometime during the night, my cousin and precious family member, Dorothy, slipped away from us. Her sister, Margaret Ann, was rooming with her and awoke to find her lying peacefully and unresponsive. We were shocked, stunned and saddened at the discovery. We were momentarily at a loss as to what to do.

The manager of the Hampton Inn was called, and we appreciated his quick response to our situation. He was very supportive, and set the procedures in motion.

The families of Dorothy McCreery, and her sister, Margaret Ann Osment, both of West Memphis, Ark.; John R. Young of Omaha, Neb.; and I wish to extend our profound appreciation to all those in Beaufort who responded quickly and came to our assistance.

They include the inn manager, the Beaufort County Emergency Medical Service, the Beaufort Police Department and the Beaufort County Coroner's Office. We did not get the names of all who were so helpful, but the young lady carrying the big EMS bag was especially helpful, assuring us, "Don't you worry, we'll take care of everything."

All responders were most considerate of our family's predicament, and their thoughtfulness will always be remembered.
