As Lt. Dan Weekend 2 approaches, a Fripp Island group is inviting the community to help raise money for severely injured troops.
The Fripp Island Independence Fund will host several events to benefit Lt. Dan Weekend 2 and the organization that helps put it on, The Independence Fund.
Lt. Dan Weekend brings injured veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars to Beaufort on Sept. 14-18 for a chance to let loose during the four-day weekend, which includes a benefit concert with actor Gary Sinise's Lt. Dan Band. Details: www.independencefund.org, www.ldw2.com
The Fripp group's schedule of events includes:
Monday: Tournament at Ocean Point Golf Course on Fripp Island. The $15 greens fee will be donated to the Independence Fund. Cart fees are $25. Register by Friday by calling 843-838-1576.
