Several area high school football teams will trade the Friday night lights for the Thursday night lights this week because of the threat of bad weather associated with Hurricane Irene.
Beaufort High School's home game against Hilton Head High has been pushed up a day, and the cross-county rivals will play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Battery Creek's home game with Estill and Whale Branch High's home game against Hunter-Kinard-Tyler also were moved to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Bluffton High School's home game against Ridgeland High School is still on for 7:30 p.m. Friday, but athletics director Dave Adams said if the weather is too bad, the game will be rescheduled for Monday.
The storm prompted two changes to the junior varsity schedule, as well. Hilton Head High's home junior varsity game against Beaufort High was moved up to 6:30 tonight. Bluffton's junior varsity game at Ridgeland, scheduled for Thursday, has been cancelled.
