The Bluffton Eagle Action Committee is hosting a Back to School Fun Day for children from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at The Sam Bennett Sports Complex on Buck Island Road. There will be music, food, activities, face painting and school supplies giveaways. The Bluffton Township Fire District and Bluffton Police Department will be participating. Jasper County School District's back to school celebration open house is Sunday. Ridgeland and Hardeeville elementary schools will have visitations from 3-5 p.m. Ridgeland and Hardeeville middle and high schools will have visitations from 4-6 p.m. Details: www.jcsd.net

Beaufort County School District will require proof of residency for all students for the 2011-12 school year. Each student will be required to complete an enrollment packet that will be available at the school. Proof of residency for all students must be provided. Details: www.beaufort.k12.sc.us

A PTF luncheon for faculty and staff is scheduled for Wednesday.

All fifth-grade students are invited to attend "A Taste of 5th Grade" from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday. There will be pizza, games, locker set up and more. Parents may join students at 1:15 p.m.

New Student Orientation for sixth-12th grade will be from noon-2:30 p.m. Thursday.

New Parent Orientation will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday in the media center.

A kindergarten Popsicle social for all incoming kindergartners will be from 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday at Palmetto Hall Playground.

An all school open house will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 15.

The first day of school is Aug. 16.

A back-to-school family cookout for grades K-6 will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Aug. 18.

Lower School Parents' Night will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 23 in the gymnasium

First grade "meet and greet" will be from 8:30-10 a.m. Friday; second through fifth grade "meet and greet" will be from 1-3:30 p.m.

The cost of elementary lunch will rise to $1.45. The changes will only affect the cost of lunch, not breakfast.

Strive to Excel's Hawkfest 2011 back-to-school community festival will be held from 3-8 p.m. Aug. 27 at Mitchelville Beach Park on Hilton Head Island. Craft vendors are invited to participate.
