The Inn at Palmetto Bluff has earned the rare Five-Diamond Award from the American Automobile Association.

AAA annually evaluates about 60,000 lodging establishments and restaurants, and less than half a percent achieve five diamonds, according to AAA. The awards are based on accommodations, service, amenities and overall experience, according to an inn news release.

"This award is a true testament to our dedicated team members and to our ongoing commitment of delivering unforgettable and personalized experiences to all of our guests," said Marty Wall, the inn's general manager.

The inn has 50 guest cottages and 40 "village homes" and is managed by Auberge Resorts. It is in Palmetto Bluff, a 20,000-acre residential development along the May River in Bluffton, that is being developed by Crescent Resources of Charlotte.
