Packet Thank You Letters for Aug. 1

August 1, 2011

For clinic support

Bluffton Jasper County Volunteers In Medicine would like to thank the following organizations for their recent donations to our clinic:

Friends of Callawassie Island for providing a printer with scan capabilities, which will allow information to be scanned into our electronic medical records database, eliminating the use of paper charts.

Calhoun Station for donating funds to purchase an autoclave, which sterilizes medical instruments.

St. Francis Thrift Shop for providing funds to purchase and automated external defibrillator.

We also thank our donors who pledged funds from the past Heritage golf tournament through the Birdies for Charity program. We also thank the foundation for matching the donations.

We deliver primary health care, health education and preventive disease education through our free medical clinic to uninsured and underinsured residents and workers of the greater Bluffton area and Jasper County who meet our financial criteria.

Again, thank you all for your hard work to allow neighbors to help neighbors.

To All Saints

On behalf of Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, I would like to thank All Saints Episcopal Church for selecting us to be a recipient of funds from the proceeds of its 24th annual Garden Tour. This detailed and organized event displays the beauty and generosity of this community.

It is an honor and privilege to be recognized for the service we provide our friends and neighbors in this area. Our mission is to give comfort, honor and dignity for end of life patients and their families through compassionate physical, emotional and spiritual care, regardless of their financial circumstances.

This is another example of one community organization helping another; we are truly blessed to live in such a charitable area.

For grant

The volunteers, staff and board of directors of Bluffton Self Help extend grateful appreciation to All Saints Episcopal Church for a 2011 grant from its 24th annual Garden Tour.

It was indeed an honor to be a recipient. The tour offered a wonderful opportunity for local residents to become familiar with the "green thumb" possibilities in the Lowcountry.

The Parish Life Commission, Local Outreach Committee at All Saints Episcopal Church is a supporter of the services provided to assist with client utility payments.

Thank you All Saints Episcopal Church for helping us help our neighbors.

To thrift shop

Backpack Buddies, a program of the Hunger and Homeless Coalition, is thankful to be a recipient of a grant from St. Francis Thrift Shop.

This grant allows us to continue to provide food on the weekends to the under-served elementary schoolchildren on Hilton Head Island. In addition, St. Francis By the Sea Catholic Church is serving as a storage and packing site, along with St. Andrew By-the-Sea Methodist Church. Donations and patronage of the Thrift Shop provides funds to support community charities.

To Special Olympians

Thank you for the article recognizing the momentous accomplishments of Special Olympians Wallace Gamble and Rashawn Young. They are exceptional young men.

Hats off and a big thank you to Heroes on Horseback for providing Wallace and Rashawn the tools to live their dream. The devotion of this team of "dream makers" is amazing. The dedication of the Heroes on Horseback staff and volunteers exemplify what community spirit is all about. The Lowcountry is very fortunate to have such a wonderful program that focuses on enriching the lives of children and adults with special needs.

For those who may not be familiar with Heroes on Horseback, take a look at the video presentation on its web site You will be inspired.
