Francis Cave of Beaufort and Kashira Chatman of Port Royal graduated from Hampton University at the May 8 commencement ceremony at Armstrong Stadium. Robert Brewer of Beaufort, a senior at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, was selected as a Merrill Presidential Scholar. Each spring, Cornell University recognizes 35 graduating seniors who have demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement, strong leadership ability and the potential for contributing to society. Brewer also was named Second Degree Marshall for the School of Hotel Administration and will join the dean in leading the procession during the 2011 commencement.
Chloe Bellomy of Beaufort was named to the Washington and Lee University dean's list status for the winter term, earning a grade point average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.
