Packet College Honors for May 9

  • Jennifer Mathis has been selected as the recipient of the 2011-2012 academic year Park University Military Family Scholarship based on her academic achievement and extracurricular activities. She is a social psychology major at the Beaufort Campus Center.

  • Clemson University announced local students who received graduate research fellowships from the National Science Foundation. The fellowship program recognizes outstanding students who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines.

  • Paul Miller, a sophomore Biological Sciences major at the University of South Carolina Beaufort, was recently named by the Office of Undergraduate Research for the USC system as one of 65 Magellan Scholars for summer-fall semester of 2011. Miller's project titled "Release from Parasites can Enhance Climate-driven Range Expansion" will be presented next spring at the USC Discovery Day in Columbia.

  • Robert Player, a graduating senior at the University of South Carolina Beaufort, recently received USCB's senior biology student of the year award and placed first at USC Columbia's Discovery Day 2011 under the Computer Science and Engineering division with his research poster titled "A Dynamic 3-D Indoor Radio Propagation Model."
