Dr. and Mrs. David L. and Francetta J. White of Hilton Head Island and formerly of Columbia, Md., announce the engagement of their daughter, Melanie Victoria, to Brannon Reginald Terry, son of Mr. Marion R. and Commander Diana R. Terry of Tulsa, Okla.

Ms. White, of Columbia, Md., earned her Bachelors Degree in Economics from the University of Virginia. She is a Financial Advisor and Registered Representative with New York Life Insurance Company.

Mr. Terry, of Tulsa, Okla., received an Associate's Degree from Connors State College in Warner, Okla., his Bachelors Degree from Howard University, Washington, D.C., and a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio. He is employed by the U.S. Department of Justice.

A Spring 2011 wedding is planned.
