District needs supplies for migrant students
Each summer, the Beaufort County School District hosts the largest migrant education program in South Carolina, providing educational services for school-aged youth at St. Helena Elementary School and for older students at migrant camps.
Each student receives instruction in basic English, math, health and life skills. Some students also receive a welcome package with basic school supplies, a Spanish/English dictionary and toiletries.
The district is collecting school supplies and travel-size toiletries for those students. Items can be dropped off at St. Helena Elementary School, the school district office on Mink Point Boulevard or the S.C. Coastal Community Development Corporation on St. Helena Island.
