For help during grief

A belated thank you to those who were there to assist me during my husband's illness and death.

I wish to thank, with deep gratitude, Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, where I work. The team that stood by me during this difficult time included the nursry Anne Richardson; the social worker, Maggie Clark; the aide, Arlene Clatt; Crissy Cohen; Heather Hicks; Renee Woodruff, the volunteer coordinator; Beth Ratcliff and Thelma Noble, the night/weekend nurses; the clinical director, Kendell Brinkmann; the executive director, Jenny Brasington; and the medical director, Scott Condie.

Thank you to Off Island Thrift and The Deep Well Project for financial support.

Thank you, Community Bible Church, for being so compassionate, loving and kind during this time.

Thank you, Island Funeral Home and Allen Richardson for handling my husband's body with such dignity and compassion.

Thank you to Ty Kilgore for being with me the entire time during the most difficult walk I have yet to take. No one could ask for a more compassionate and giving cousin.

This wonderful team allowed me to be with my husband during his last days. They literally held my hand, stayed with me and hugged me. Words alone can not express my gratitude to each of them.

This was truly a community coming together to assist one of their own. My deepest gratitude and thanks to each one.

For chamber music

After reading your recent article "Final Notes," announcing that this spring will end the wonderful performances brought to us by Chamber Music Hilton Head, I am writing to make certain that all your readers who love chamber music are aware of the University of South Carolina Beaufort Chamber Music Series that will continue with two more performances this season and five planned for next year.

We find the 45-minute drive to Beaufort beautiful. And sometimes we take advantage of the arrangement the university has with the Beaufort Inn and Saltus Grill -- enjoying the concert, dinner and a night at the Inn all for discounted prices.

Each year there are five performances, beginning in November and ending in late spring. The next one is at 5 p.m. March 27 at the Festival Center. Artistic director and cellist Edward Arron will introduce works by Schumann, Beethoven and Mozart. He will be joined by world-renowned artists.

These concerts were begun here 32 years ago by Charles Wadsworth of Lincoln Center, and we have made the drive to Beaufort for the past 30 years to enjoy these wonderful concerts.
