Beaufort High 13, Hilton Head High 0 (6 inn.): Ariel Promislow threw a perfect game for the Eagles, striking out six. She also had one of Beaufort's 13 hits on offense.

Mari Cook led the way with two hits and four RBIs, Natalie Moore had two hits and three RBIs, Gabby Maynard added two hits and two RBIs and Maddie Berry had two hits and one RBI. Megan Cieplowski had one hit and two RBIs for the Eagles (4-2), who host Stratford at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Bluffton 8, Colleton County 2: Courtney Smith led the Bobcats in all facets, striking out 13 and scattering five hits as a pitcher and going 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs at the plate.

Summer Lawson went 2 for 2 with three RBIs for Bluffton (1-0). Melissa Peebles was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and freshman leadoff hitter Morgan Parker was 1 for 1 with three walks and scored twice

Bluffton (1-0) plays at Ashley Ridge at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Academic Magnet 12, Battery Creek 1 (5 inn.): Tori Hill and Theresa Bishop accounted for the Dolphins' only hits, and pitcher Lisa Miller took the loss, recording one strikeout. Battery Creek (1-4) plays at Wade Hampton on Wednesday.


Bluffton 11, Hilton Head Christian 0 (6 inn.): Ryan Ward started and earned the win for Bluffton. Hunter Van Geison powered the Bobcats' offense, hitting a three-run home run.

Ryan Atwood had the lone hit for Hilton Head Christian (1-1). Lincoln Fuller started and took the loss for the Eagles, who play Hilton Head Prep at 4 p.m. Thursday in Prep's Dolphin Diamond Classic.

Battery Creek 14, Whale Branch 0 (5 inn.): Joe Fields and Tommy Hill combined to hold Whale Branch to two hits and also did damage at the plate for the Dolphins (2-2).

Fields got the win, giving up two hits and three walks while striking out eight in 3 2-3 innings. Hill struck out four in 1 1-3 hitless innings.

Hill was 2 for 2 with a triple and an RBI and Fields had a hit and two RBIs. Rusty Wilman went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Thomas Smith had a hit and two RBIs for the Dolphins, who host Beaufort High at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

West Ashley 4, Beaufort High 3: The Eagles suffered their first loss of the season after the visitors scored three in the second inning and one in the third.

Beau Brown pitched five innings for Beaufort High beofre giving way to Joel Fickes.

Brown also hit a two-run home run.

The Eagles (4-1) visit Battery Creek on Wednesday.


Wade Hampton 3, Battery Creek 0: Goalie Rodney Cooper made 12 saves in the season-opening loss for the Dolphins (0-1), who play at Beaufort High at 7 tonight.


Viking Cup: The Hilton Head High girls claimed the championship in Spring Valley High School's prestigious Taco Bell Viking Cup over the weekend, going 5-0 along the way. The Seahawks defeated Class 4-A powerhouse Wando in the semifinals before knocking off Riverside in the championship game.

Hilton Head High's Maraia Tremarelli was selected as the tournament MVP, receiving a $1,000 scholarship in memory of former Spring Valley student Ashley Nicole Dent.

Wade Hampton 7, Battery Creek 1: Caitlyn Holland scored on a penalty kick for Battery Creek's only goal in the season opener.

The Dolphins were missing five starters because of injuries, and two more players were hurt during Monday's loss.

Junior Stephanie Colleran and freshman Caroline Vido shared goalkeeper duties for the Dolphins (0-1), who play at 5:30 p.m. today at Beaufort High School.
