I am a 78-year-old senior and have had surgery. One of my doctors prescribed aquatic therapy. My experience was very positive. This took place at the Hilton Head Hospital rehab facility, which has a heated pool.

To The Bargain Box

It is amazing how The Bargain Box raises so much money to distribute to charity: a $2 shirt is sold, a 25-cent trinket, a $7 blazer, and they raise thousands of dollars to help many important causes.

The Bargain Box has awarded a grant to Memory Matters to ensure that low-income families that care for someone with Alzheimer's disease, or any type of dementia, can get the help they need at our dementia-specific adult day care.

This grant will open the door to resources, support and help that will make a huge difference in the lives of families who are overwhelmed emotionally, physically and financially.

We wish to thank all of the volunteers at The Bargain Box, who tirelessly sort clothes, price, stock and sell merchandise in order to raise money to improve the lives of others in our community.

We are very grateful to the staff and to the grants committee for their commitment to Memory Matters.

Memory Matters offers counseling, support groups and resources to caregivers in addition to the daycare program.

The volunteers, staff and board of directors of Bluffton Self Help extend grateful appreciation to the Long Cove Club Community Endowment Fund for a grant that enabled us to purchase an industrial freezer.

This freezer allows for the storage of perishable food items and replaced a small, very old freezer that held very little and often prevented us from accepting frozen food donations due to lack of storage space.

With this freezer, Bluffton Self Help is able to accept and store more food items, which are distributed to the less fortunate members of our community every week of the year.

Thank you to the Long Cove Club Community Endowment Fund for helping us feed our neighbors. Food is distributed at Bluffton Self Help at 10 a.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

For entertaining

On Feb. 18, we were treated to a most clever and outstanding production of "39 Steps" at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina.

The accents, inflections and timing of the four very talented actors held you on the edge of your seat, delivering one feat of energy and physicality after another and sustaining that vigor, and our interest, over the entire evening.

The only disappointment of the exciting evening was the lack of a standing ovation from the audience that this performance deserved.
