Anyone looking for a warm, furry, loveable companion?

January 31, 2011

With the number of cats we have, you'd think we have a passione (Italian for that fabulous word "passion") for them. Those furry four-legged beasties keep getting plopped down in the midst of our lives. Now another has appeared, and I don't think it is divine providence.

Could it be that someone somewhere has a trunk full of kitties and is roaming up and down the street depositing them in our yard?

A tuxedo cat has joined the melee and she is a very adorable, mild-mannered thing. But this makes five too many mouths to feed -- soon to be more because I think the cat in question is a mother-to-be.

If you are in need of a wonderful, warm, furry companion -- one who is not too adept at catching mice -- please let me know. We do not allow the beasties to roam outdoors because I love birds, and as you might imagine, they are quite tempting to kitties.

So if you are cold and lonely don't go on Match.com, call me. I have just the answer.

  • The King James Bible was published in 1611, making this year the 400th anniversary of this beloved version of the Bible.

Millions of these have been sold around the world. It took a group of learned scholars more than seven years to produce it. It is thought that the King James Bible greatly influenced the English language. There are many versions of the Bible in more modern translations, but to purists, the King James Bible is the crown jewel.

  • Do you have a member of your family who is looking for work and feeling down in the dumps?

Well, the Bluffton Business Club might be a nice spot to go to every day -- for a mere pittance. Decorated beautifully, the "BBC" is a good place to go to network, get your resume in order or just get out of the house without having to drive on U.S. 278. The club has computers, a fax and copier service and a mailroom. It is on Goethe Road, within walking distance of restaurants and shops.

  • Please join us at my place of business, The Store, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to meet author Susan Sewell. Susan has just published her book "Sippin' Southern Sunshine" and will be signing copies at my store. This charming book is a collection of wonderful thoughts Susan has gathered over the years. Come share a sip of champagne as we celebrate the book.
