Haven't been to Red Fish or Old Fort Pub in a while? Want to check out the new Chart House? The coming week is the time to do it.

The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce's third annual Restaurant Week begins Saturday and runs through Jan. 22.

More than 60 restaurants are offering prix fixe, or fixed price, menus. Most places typically offer multiple courses with a selection of entrees for a set price. The River House in Palmetto Bluff, for example, is offering a three-course meal with choice of entree for $27. Typically, the price for an entree alone ranges from $25 to $35 at the restaurant.

The venues range from breakfast spots such as Skillets to high-end dining such as CQ's and Michael Anthony's.

The week is a perfect chance to try out a new place or return to a favorite at a lower price, chamber spokeswoman Charlie Clark said.

The chamber got the idea from similar events held in New York City and Los Angeles. January usually is a slow month for local eateries, so the chamber introduced the concept as a means to pick up business. In years past, some restaurants have reported that they've seen crowds similar to their busiest summer months. This year, some restaurants, such as Jump and Phil's, joined the chamber simply to participate in restaurant week, Clark said.

"Success breeds success," she said.
