November at Jazz Corner to benefit nonprofit group

Published: November 1, 2010

November is Junior Jazz month at The Jazz Corner.

This month, the Hilton Head Island jazz club is donating its weekend proceeds to its nonprofit foundation, which benefits young musicians.

In its four years, The Junior Jazz Foundation has raised money to send students to jazz camps, held workshops with nationally known artists and distributed donated instruments to schools establishing jazz programs.

Proceeds from these Friday and Saturday shows will go to the foundation:

  • The Brazil Project with vibraphonist Christian Tamburr and Grammy-nominated pianist Weber Iago on Friday and Saturday.

  • Bobby Ryder's Swingin' Quartet on Nov. 12 and 13.

  • The Annie Sellick Quartet on Nov. 19 and 20.

  • Saxophonist Harry Allen with The Bob Alberti Trio, bassist and vocalist Nicki Parrott and percussionist Steve Primatic on Nov. 26 and 27.

The annual Jazz Corner Golf Tournament to benefit Junior Jazz is Nov. 20 at the Arthur Hills Course in Palmetto Dunes.
