Share your sweet treat stories and photos

October 27, 2010

Pumpkins, ghosts and goblins are nice, but candy's really what makes Halloween so naughty.

Remember trick-or-treating as a kid? Oh, the excitement of knocking on neighbors' doors for free candy. You might still remember the families that handed out the good stuff -- chocolate bars, most likely -- and the evil ones that pushed the dreaded toothbrush. And who can forget the feeling of sizing up all your loot at the end of the night? Sheer bliss.

We want to hear your favorite stories about Halloween candy. From trick-or-treating snafus to favorite candies of yesteryear, the tales can be about you or your children. We'll run our favorite stories in the paper, and run all submissions online. If you have fun Halloween photos, please send those along, too.

E-mail your stories and photos by Thursday to or, or send them to Features Department, The Island Packet, P.O. Box 5727, Hilton Head Island, SC 29938. Be sure to include your name, where you're from and contact information. Please identify people in photos and the approximate year each photo was taken.

The Island Packet is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
