Genealogy speaker to discuss Confederacy

The Old Saint Bartholomew Chapter of the S.C. Genealogy Society of Colleton County will host guest speaker Billy Syfrett at 3 p.m. Sunday at the society's research center, 609 Black St., Walterboro. Syfrett will discuss the events that culminated in the dedication of Colleton County's Confederate monument. Syfrett is a Confederate re-enactor, Adjutant of the Colleton Rangers, Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp No. 1643, and a genealogist. The program is free and open to the public.
