Logan Mock rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. He also scored on a 71-yard kickoff return and had a 40-yard reception as the Rebels improved to 2-0.
"Phenomenal would be my word for the way he's playing right now," Thomas Heyward coach Nic Shuford said. "He's doing it all right now. He's fighting for every yard he gets and he's our shut-down corner. He's doing a good job of it."
Thomas Heyward never trailed. Quarterback JD Tuten rushed for 67 yards on seven carries.
The Rebels will face a strong test next Friday when they host Northwood Academy in their first SCISAA Region 2-AA game.
"We're definitely ready for that game," Shuford said.

Dee Delaney returned an interception for a touchdown -- one of two picks on the night for him -- and added a touchdown pass to help the Warriors improve to 3-0.
Delaney, filling in for injured starting quarterback Stedmon James, tossed a touchdown to Josh Fields in the fourth quarter to cap off the scoring. James hurt his knee, but returned to the game.
The touchdown catch was the second score of the game for Fields, who also rushed for one in the second quarter to open the scoring.
The Warriors are off next week. They host Hardeeville at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 17.
St. Andrew's 36, Hilton Head Prep 26
Using a potent ground attack, St. Andrew's controlled the clock at their home field in Savannah and put away the Dolphins with 15 points in the fourth quarter. The Saints (3-0) had one scoring drive in the fourth that lasted 9 1/2 minutes.
Dimitri Lowry caught three touchdown passes from Matt Layman -- all in the first half -- as Hilton Head Prep (1-1) took a 20-14 lead into halftime. LJ Orage added a rushing touchdown in the third, but that was all the scoring for Prep. The Dolphins only had one possession in the final quarter.
Prep had three turnovers in the game, two coming on fumbled kick returns. They lost another fumble late in the game to help St. Andrew's ice it.
Hilton Head Prep returns home Friday for a 4 p.m. game against Thomas Sumter, a rematch from last year's SCISAA playoffs.
W.W. King 57, Beaufort Academy 6
On the road without two of its top players, Beaufort Academy was taken down by one of the top eight-man teams in SCISAA. W.W. King improved to 3-0 with the win.
Seniors Bennett Fultz and Leif Koppernaes missed Friday's contest in Batesburg, but both are expected back next week.
"We weren't prepared to come in and deal with the speed this team had," Beaufort Academy head coach Wheatley Alford said.
Sophomore Gibson Achurch was 5 for 14 for 123 passing yards with a touchdown to Jack Griffith. Griffith made two catches for 55 yards. Billy Dailey had three receptions for 68 yards.
On defense, Griffith led the Eagles (0-2) with 10 tackles. Matt Bass added 8 1/2 tackles.
Kick returner Nathan Akers had 85 yards on three returns.
Beaufort Academy hits the road again on Friday, heading to Blackville to face another tough team, Jefferson Davis Academy.
