After several hours of negotiations, a 54-year-old man who had barricaded himself in his Hilton Head Plantation home after pointing a long gun at deputies was taken into custody by members of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team late Wednesday, according to a news release today.

Kenneth Eldimor Allison was arrested just before midnight after nearly four hours of negotiations.

Wednesday afternoon, the Hilton Head man called 911 demanding that sheriff’s deputies respond to recover a boat that he claimed had been stolen by his bank. Deputies responded and determined that the issue was not a criminal matter, but instead a civil, repossession matter.

The man was told the matter was a civil one, but he continued to make repeated 911 calls throughout the afternoon, becoming increasingly agitated and harassing dispatchers, the release said.

At about 7:20 p.m., he called 911 again, and deputies were dispatched to his home on High Bluff Road.

When they arrived, he met deputies armed with a long gun, according to the release.

A perimeter was established by deputies, and the man retreated into his home and refused to come out. During attempts to speak with him, he was seen with several different weapons, including a long gun, a handgun and a bow and arrow, the release said.

Members of the sheriff’s Negotiations Team and SWAT Team spent the next several hours trying to persuade him to communicate or surrender, but they were unable to convince him to give himself up.

At about 11:45 p.m., SWAT members made entry to the home and were able to subdue him and take him into custody.

The man was transported to Hilton Head Hospital for evaluation and was later released to the Beaufort County Detention Center.

During a search of the home after the standoff, investigators found numerous weapons and a large quantity of marijuana, the release said.

He has been charged with unlawful use of 911 and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He currently remains in the county jail awaiting bond hearings, according to the jail log.
